Accidental SEO on Image
Since the time I learned about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) it become my daily practice to optimize every post I create on my blogs.
Recently, my other 2 blogs traffic have increased and I was curious on what blog post that is causing the traffic. Since both of my blog have stats plug-in I easily found the blog post that has a higher page views. I search the optimized keyword in Google.com but unfortunately I didn’t see any of my blogs url on the first and second page. I thoroughly look for the links that have been visited on my stats plug-in, it was an image file on my blog. So I get the idea to search in on Google Images, so it was there its on the first page of Google Images.
So how did it get there? I didn’t know until I research about SEO on Image, it’s the same way on how to optimize a blog post but optimizing an image just take a little effort and also the right keyword.
Here’s the 5 key items on optimizing an image on your blog post.
- A
srcattribute specifying the URL of the image - A
widthdeclaration in which the width of the image is specified in pixels - A
heightdeclaration in which the height of the image is specified in pixels - An
altattribute that describes the content of the image—this is the #1 element of image-oriented SEO - A
titleattribute that contains text to be displayed when the user hovers his/her mouse over the image
In this example, we’ll use an image with 201 pixels wide and 300 pixels high. We will then the 5 key items of optimizing an image above.
<img title=”tiborsho” src=”http://www.tiborsho.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/tiborsho-201×300.jpg” alt=”tiborsho in park mall” width=”201″ height=”300″ />
Two important things on how to get ranked in Google Image Search:
- the
altattribute of the image - the context of the page and the relevance of the
altattribute thereto
That’s it all to it! ![]()
